State officials have announced Elizabeth Matney as Iowa’s new Medicaid director.
Matney has served as as health policy advisor to Gov. Kim Reynolds since June 2019. She previously held several roles in the state's Department of Human Services overseeing the state's Medicaid program, which serves more than 700,000 Iowans.
Iowa’s previous Medicaid director Mike Randol resigned from his position last August to work in the private sector.
Deputy Medicaid Director Julie Lovelady has served as interim director since Randol left.
Matney was appointed by DHS Director Kelly Garcia, following a nationwide search for a new director. Her appointment does not require a Senate confirmation.
She will begin her new role on June 1.
