Amid the new controversy about email, this time involving Donald Trump Jr. and Russian officials, the White House has gone on the defensive.

During this hour of River to River, host Ben Kieffer talks with Dennis Goldford, professor of political science at Drake University and Wayne Moyer, professor of political science at Grinnell College.

Goldford says that it’s going to be interesting to continue to watch this investigation into Russian meddling in the U.S. election unfold given President Trump’s treatment of family versus his staff.

“I think the only people the President really trusts are family. That’s why he’s instated Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner at the White House,” he says.

“We have a history of Mr. Trump taking credit for everything and responsibility for nothing. If anything good happens, it's his doing, and if anything bad happens, it's not his fault. He has a history of throwing people under the bus, so his loyalty does not go both ways… I’ll be interested to see how this unfolds with Donald Jr.”

During this hour, analysts also discuss the tension from a possible repeal of the Affordable Care Act and last week’s G20 Summit.
