Plum & Kay LIVE set 1-2PM (Beethoven & Bartok)
Two renowned musicians - violinist Sarah Plum of Drake and pianist Francine Kay of Princeton - are giving a series of concerts in Iowa this week. You can hear them live in Des Moines Wednesday at noon at St. John's Lutheran Church and at 7:30 at Sheslow Auditorium at Drake - but you can get a live preview at 1 PM on IPR! Barney will host them live, as they perform Beethoven's Violin Sonata no. 10 and Bartok's Violin Sonata no. 2.
Dr. Plum won the Gold Medal at the prestigious International Stulberg Competition (other winners have included Joshua Bell) and studied with Dorothy DeLay (Itzhak Perlman's teacher) and the legendary Szymon Goldberg. Her recordings of new music have won international praise and she has had a distinguished international career. Kay's teachers include Leon Fleisher, Gilbert Kalish, and Gyorg Sebok; like Plum, her degrees are from Juilliard and Stony Brook. Her recordings of Debussy, Ravel, and Satie have won acclaim.
Tune in to hear this extraordinary pair in a live studio set! Plum previously played Vivaldi's Four Seasons at IPR with a group of Drake students backing her - here's a picture!
