Pages from a long-lost diary written by the composer's last and least-known son, P.D.Q. Bach, have just been discovered in--of all places--North Carolina by Professor Peter Schickele (SHIK-kel-lee). He'll read P.D.Q.'s entry from July 29th, 1750, which concerns his father's death the day before.

  • Bach Week begins: This Friday, July 28th, marks the 250th anniversary of the death of Johann Sebastian Bach. All this week we'll pay tribute to this great composer. We'll begin with Bach for orchestra: Leopold Stokowski (stoh-KAWFF-skee) conducts the Leopold Stokowski Symphony Orchestra in his transcription of the Sarabande from John Sebastian Bach's Violin Partita No. 1. Russian pianist Vladimir Feltsman has devoted most of his time during the last decade to music by J.S. Bach.
