A private recital by Rebel (reh-BEL): The Baroque ensemble joins Fred live in Studio 4A for an hour of music by Georg Philipp Telemann. The recital begins with the Concerto Polonese (poh-loh-NEZ) for Four in B-flat. The performers are: Jorg-Michael Schwarz (YORG-MEYE-kel SHVAHRTS) and Karen Marie Marmer, violins; Risa Browder, viola; John Moran, cello, and Donsok Shin, harpsichord. (NPR)

Telemann wrote more than a thousand instrumental works. Rebel is back to play the Concerto in D major for Traverso and Strings. The flute soloist is Matthias Maute (mah-TEE-ahs MOW-tuh). He joins violinists Jorg-Michael Schwarz and Karen Marmer, violist Risa Browder, cellist John Moran, violone player Lauri Bennett and harpsichordist Dongsok Shin. (NPR)

The Ensemble Haydn-Berlin, which draws its members primarily from the Berlin Philharmonic, was recently touring the United States. From a concert earlier this month at the Modlin Center for the Arts in Richmond, we're going to hear flutist Emanuel Pahud (pah-OOD) (principal flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic) join the ensemble in the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra by Michael Haydn. Midday Copland: Two takes on a piece Aaron Copland conceived at the time he was writing "Appalaichian Spring" -- but didn't finish until almost 40 years later. We'll hear pianist Michael Boriskin (boh-RIS-kin) play "Midday Thoughts" at Copland's house in Westchester County, New York. And then we'll hear a Performance Today commission of the same piece, scored for orchestra by David Del Tredici (TRED-ditch-ee). The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, which played the world premiere on PT in January, gave the piece its Carnegie Hall debut on Saturday night.

Pacific Mozart: From a concert on August 9th at the Bellingham Music Festival in Washington state, we'll hear conductor Michael Palmer and the American Sinfonietta in a performance of the Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. (Bart Chiate Recordings)
