Texas Gov. Greg Abbott pardoned Daniel Perry, a former Army sergeant who was convicted of killing a Black Lives Matter protester in Austin in 2020. He had been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service recently announced it is discontinuing a few market surveys due to budget cuts. Some lawmakers and industry groups have expressed concern and want the decision to be reversed.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signs a bill that strikes climate change from state law
Under the new law, climate change will largely disappear from state statutes. Critics say the move ignores the risks of climate change facing Florida, including rising seas, flooding and extreme heat.
Reynolds signs law requiring clear labeling of meat and egg alternatives sold in Iowa
Lab-grown and plant-based meat alternatives would have to be labeled as fake or imitation products. The law also prohibits school districts, community colleges and public universities in Iowa from purchasing lab-grown meat and any foods misbranded as meat or egg products.
