Liszt in the Graveyard: Franz Liszt wrote his piano piece called "Funeral" shortly after Frederic Chopin died. He even made a musical reference to Chopin in the piece. We'll hear it performed by pianist Janina Fialkowska (yah-NEE-nah fee-ahl-KAWF-skah) at a concert this summer at the Mannes (MAN-ess) College of Music in New York. From that same concert, Fialkowska also performs three etudes by Frederic Chopin: the Etude in A-flat Op. 10, No. 10; the Etude in G-sharp minor, Op. 25, No. 6, and the Etude in F, Op. 10, No. 8. (Mannes College of Music Audio Services)

Pianist Katia Skanavi has been captivating audiences the world over since 1997, when she was named a finalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Texas. (ACA Digital Recordings and Horton Systems Company)
Royal Fiddles in Troy: One of America's finest concert halls, the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, New York, celebrated its 125th anniversary in April.
