New research examines biological causes of profound autism

After more than a decade of research, scientists at University of California, San Francisco, have mapped around 100 varied genes associated with profound autism to a smaller set of biological pathways.

This “atlas” offers a promising path for developing drugs that may help those with serious disabilities.
