At least five people have died in California as wildfires force tens of thousands of people to evacuate from their homes. Firefighters are battling three separate clusters of fires that have made their way through rural areas in the San Francisco Bay area and central California.
So far, the fires have burned an estimated 349,000 acres. Authorities say many of the fires started with lightning strikes from this week’s thunderstorms, combined with blisteringly hot weather and dry trees and brush.
Daniel Berlant, assistant deputy director at Cal Fire, joins host Tonya Mosley with the latest.
