The scope of the fires burning in California can be difficult to grasp. Many were triggered by lightning earlier this week and over the past couple of days, more and more people have been fleeing their homes.
Some of the largest fires are around the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s a public safety scramble as fire crews also navigate the challenges of a scorching heatwave and COVID-19.
