For 20 years, readers have been hooked on the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends, with many people finding inspiration in the characters and themes of the books by J.K. Rowling. The very popular podcast "Harry Potter and the Sacred Text" has grown out of that community, and it takes an intentional look at the series and the lessons we can take from it.

The podcast is coming to Iowa for a live event on Monday, March 18th, and it will be exploring one of the Harry Potter series' most iconic, powerful characters, Hermione Granger. The live taping will be released as part of a series of episodes called "The Women of Harry Potter and the Sacred Text," which explore the successes and struggles of women in Rowling's fictitional wizarding world.

Guests during this episode of Talk of Iowa:

  • Vanessa Zoltan, co-host and co-creator of Harry Potter and the Sacred Text
  • Chloe Angyal, contributing editor at Marieclaire.com and co-host of Monday's live event in Coralville
Katelyn Harrop is a producer for IPR's River to River and Talk of Iowa
Charity Nebbe is the host of IPR's Talk of Iowa
