Owls of Iowa

Talk of Iowa, hosted by Charity Nebbe

Many owls live among us in Iowa, but with their ethereal calls, nocturnal habits and silent flight, they can seem a little otherworldly.

Wildlife ecologist Jim Pease joins us this episode to talk about the owls of our state.

We learn about the most common species in Iowa, those that are endangered, and rare ones that make special visits. Listeners also share their owl encounters and queries.

Guest:

  • Jim Pease, emeritus professor of ecology, Iowa State University
