On this edition of River to River, Ben Kieffer and Katarina Sostaric focus on a proposal for increased police protection, also referred to as the Back the Blue act, that is active legislation making it's way through the Iowa legislature. The focus of this conversation is on HSB 266.

A couple of week ago, Republican lawmakers, who are in the majority in other chambers, did not advance Gov. Kim Reynolds’ proposal to ban racial profiling by law enforcement, but both chambers did advance bills that give more protections to police.

Guests:

  • Republican State Representative Jarad Klein
  • Democratic State Representative Ras Smith
