Orchids are the largest family of flowering plants with more than 25,000 species.

Orchids are beautiful, delicate, extremely popular and easy to buy in full bloom. But coaxing one back into bloom feels like a marvelous achievement.

On this "Hort Day" edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe speaks with horticulturist Chris Currey of Iowa State University and Aaron Steil of Reiman Gardens in Ames about orchids and they answer listener questions.

Guests:

  • Chris Currey, associate professor of Horticulture at Iowa State University
  • Aaron Steil, assistant director at Reiman Gardens in Ames
