The Poinsettia is everywhere this time of year, but what are the origins of this plant and how did it become a holiday symbol?

On this "Hort Day" edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe speaks with Chris Currey, assistant professor of horticulture at Iowa State University, about the history of the Poinsettia and how to care for these delicate plants. (Note: Poinsettia is usually capitalized because it's named after a person.)

Aaron Steil of Reiman Gardens in Ames joins the program and answers questions about the plants in trees in your life.

Guests:

· Chris Currey, associate professor, Department of Horticulture, Iowa State University

· Aaron Steil, Assistant Director at Reiman Gardens
