Iowa lawmakers will meet in a special session Oct. 5 to approve or reject the first set of proposed legislative and congressional district maps.

The public comment period for new proposed boundaries for Iowa’s legislative and congressional districts ended Wednesday evening, with the vast majority of comments expressing support for the first set of maps drawn by the nonpartisan Legislative Services Agency. On Oct. 5, lawmakers will come back to Des Moines for a special legislative session and will vote to approve or reject the maps. If they reject the maps, the Legislative Services Agency has about a month to draw a second set.
