The FIRST Tech Challenge is a robotics program for middle school and high schoolers in which they build a team of up to 15 students who are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge. Each season concludes with a national competition. Of course things are going to look different this year.

On this edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe speaks with Rebecca Whitaker, delivery partner for FIRST Tech Challenge, and Will Potter, a high school junior participating in the robotics program, about this growing extracurricular and how the program is adapting to the pandemic this school year.

Guests:

· Rebecca Whitaker, program delivery partner for First Tech Challenge in the state of Iowa, college of engineering at the University of Iowa

· Will Potter, junior at Waverly Shell Rock High School, FIRST Tech Challenge team, Waverly Robotics Club
