Social distancing provides unique challenges to those seeking and providing support for addiction recovery

Social distancing and self-isolation are the new normal under the COVID-19 pandemic, and this reality is changing every fiber of society, including the way substance abuse support is handled and administered.

On this episode of River to River host Ben Kieffer is joined by members of alcohol and drug recovery support communities to learn how substance abuse treatment and peer support groups are adapting to new social distancing requirements dictated by the new coronavirus.

Guests include:

  • Chris Hoffman, exectuive director, Pathways Behavioral Services in Waterloo
  • Dan, Alcoholics Anonymous member in the Des Moines area, working to support the transition to online AA meetings.
