Cori Bush, a nurse and Black Lives Matter activist, defeated Rep. William Lacy Clay in Missouri’s Democratic primary Tuesday in the latest upset victory of a progressive challenger over a longtime incumbent. Also in Missouri, health care advocates claimed victory in their campaign to expand Medicaid.

In Kansas,  Rep. Roger Marshall bested Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach in the Republican Senate primary.
