Bedouin Soundclash On World Cafe Next

Bedouin Soundclash emerged from a collaboration between three Toronto college students more than a decade ago. Taking its name from a 1996 dub record by Badawi, the trio kicked things off with Root Fire in 2001. The band's soulful and infectious fusion of pop, punk and reggae was encapsulated by the single "When the Night Feels My Song," which earned Bedouin Soundclash a Juno Award for Best New Artist. The group subsequently toured with top acts like Vernon Buckley, No Doubt, Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay and Damian Marley.

After a busy year in 2010, in which the band launched its own record label (Pirates Blend Records), Bedouin Soundclash added drummer Sekou Lumumba for its fourth studio album, Light the Horizon. Listen to two songs from the album in this edition of "World Cafe: Next."
