Hiaasen's New Florida Tale: 'Nature Girl'

Carl Hiaasen
Carl Hiaasen

For more than two decades, Carl Hiaasen's wit and humor has appeared in the pages of The Miami Herald, and now, 11 novels. But in September, his sarcastic send-up of the Herald's role in a scandal over government-paid reporters ignited controversy at the paper, and around the country. Jesus Diaz, the paper's publisher, threatened to pull the column, and, in response, Hiaasen offered his resignation. Ultimately, the column ran, and Diaz left the Herald.

Hiaasen talks about his latest novel, Nature Girl, and his controversial column that appeared in The Miami Herald.
