'Team of Rivals' by Doris Kearns Goodwin

I've just finished reading Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Lincoln's character is explored in the context of those in his Cabinet. I found this book so enthralling that my night reading caused me to be bleary-eyed at work and my hands to become cramped [from] holding its weight.

"It was worth the pain, because I discovered, along with his Cabinet, what a truly good man he was, as well as a great president. I felt the pain of his loss... Lincoln would be very sad today to see the corruption of the union and government he saved... He was able to offer his reasoning to the people in plain but poetical language, never equaled. They understood, staying with him throughout the most bloody conflict ever seen by this country."
