Best of 4A 2002 - Lang Lang

Performance Today is devoting today's show to a number of outstanding performances that took place in NPR's Studio 4A in 2002. We start with the young Chinese pianist Lang Lang. He spent some time in the studio in March. First, we hear the Etude, Op. 42, No. 3 by Alexander Scriabin, followed by Brahms's Intermezzo, Op. 118, No. 2. Then he moves on to a Chinese folk song called "The Competition of the Two Horses." Lang Lang performs this last piece with his father, who plays the er-hu, a traditional Chinese instrument.
