Snowblink Captures Nature's Music

Feb 2, 2015

In this encore episode of IPR Studio One's "Java Blend," host Ben Kieffer will chat with Snowblink.

In 2008, Daniela Gesundheit of Snowblink moved from San Francisco to Toronto, irreversibly altering Snowblink from a whimsical warm-weather band touting four male backup singers (two of whom were MGMT) to the current acclaimed duo with Dan Goldman (Luxury Pond). Snowblink quickly became "one of the most compelling new voices on the Canadian scene" (CBC), opening for Jeff Tweedy, Owen Pallett, Timber Timbre, Ohbijou, Great Lake Swimmers, and The Hidden Cameras on extended tours throughout the US, Canada, and Europe.

In September of 2012, the group released its latest effort, Inner Classics, named for an ancient text about Chinese medicine. These nine songs represent Snowblink frontwoman Daniela Gesundheit's first material since moving to Canada from the band's original home base of San Francisco. These new compositions were written in a cottage on Lake Erie in winter, an attic studio in Toronto in the early spring, and a guest house in Malibu, California in the summer while listening to a live feed of whales singing off the coast of Maui.
