Spring often prompts a conversation about the importance of planting trees and how to do it right. This spring, planting trees feels far more important as Iowa works to repair storm damage done by the 2020 derecho. DNR Forester Mark Vitosh joins Talk of Iowa to offer some tree planting advice.

Trees can live for a very long time if the conditions are right and the care you take when planting a tree is an important first step for health and longevity. On this episode of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe talks with DNR Forester Mark Vitosh and Aaron Steil, assistant director of Reiman Gardens in Ames, about trees and growing better gardens.

Guests:

  • Aaron Steil, assistant director of Reiman Gardens in Ames
  • Mark Vitosh, district forester, Iowa DNR
