Spring is here and the grass is growing. Maybe your lawn is lush and green, maybe it’s not.

On this edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe starts off with some lawn advice and wisdom from Iowa State University Extension Turf Grass Specialist Adam Thoms. They discuss the pros and cons of different kinds of grasses and explain the differences between cool-season grasses, like Kentucky bluegrass, fescues and perennial ryegrass, and alternatives like Buffalograss or Zoysiagrass.

Horticulturist Cindy Haynes also joins the conversation to help answer plant and tree questions from listeners.

Guests:

  • Adam Thoms, assistant professor of horticulture, Iowa State University Extension turfgrass specialist
  • Cindy Haynes, associate professor of horticulture, Iowa State University
