This time of year is great for getting cool-season crops, like potatoes, ready for the growing season.

It’s almost time to do some planting. On this edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe talks about cool-season crops like peas, lettuce and spinach.

You'll also learn how a cold frame, a simple structure can help extend the growing season on either end. Learn how to construct a cold frame or hotbed here.

Listeners also get their questions answered about the plants and trees in their lives from Iowa State University horticulture experts.

Guests:

  • Cindy Haynes, associate professor of horticulture, Iowa State University
  • Ajay Nair, associate professor of horticulture, Iowa State University
