It may be wet and chilly, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great time to get outside! On this episode of Talk of Iowa, recommendations on winter camping, hiking, snowshoeing, and creating a cozy, hygge-friendly home environment.

An increased emphasis on outdoor activities has been a rare silver lining to an otherwise difficult year dominated by the pandemic. But as the days grow shorter and temperatures drop, it’s easy to retreat inside and shelve outdoor activities until spring returns.

On this episode of Talk of Iowa, four winter enthusiasts challenge you to put on your boots, grab your wooly hat and embrace winter for all it has to offer.

Host Charity Nebbe is joined by Andy Bartlett of Ledges State Park, outdoor educator Chad Swope, Tova Brandt of the Museum of Danish America in Elk Horn and all-around winter super-fan Michael Leland for a look at the many outdoor (and a few indoor) activities that celebrate the winter season.

Guests:
Michael Leland, IPR news director and winter enthusiast
Andy Bartlett, park manager, Ledges State Park
Chad Swope, coordinator of outdoor education and recreation at the University of Iowa
Tova Brandt, executive director and Albert Ravenholt curator of Danish-American culture at the Museum of Danish America in Elk Horn

Charity Nebbe is the host of IPR's Talk of Iowa
