Performing plays and theater productions is not safe to do in a pandemic.

However, the University of Iowa Theatre Arts department has come up with a unique way to perform and honor essential workers – the people who can’t stay safe at home during this pandemic - at the same time. On this edition of Talk of Iowa, host Charity Nebbe speaks with director Alan MacVey about the department’s new series Essential Workers: A Portrait. Episodes are available on YouTube for a limited time.

Guest:

· Alan MacVey, director of the division of performing arts, professor of theatre arts, University of Iowa
