Charity Nebbe is joined by poet Ralph Savarese to discuss his newest book of poems.

The pandemic has introduced Ralph Savarese to all kinds of new worries. He’s an English professor at Grinnell College and has worried about reaching his students through distance learning. He’s the son of a vulnerable woman living in an assisted living facility that has had a full-blown COVID outbreak. He’s the father of a son whose hard-won life has been upended and boxed in by this Pandemic and he’s vulnerable himself, with a pre-existing condition.

All of this has also inspired him to write. Savarese has just published a new poetry collection with Ice Cube Press. It is “When This is Over: Pandemic Poems.”
