In Iowa, Latinos make up 6% of the population.

Charity Nebbe is joined by the authors of the book "Ignored Racism: White Animus Toward Latinos."

There are more than 60 million Latinos living in the United States, 18% of the population. Latinos are also an important and growing part of Iowa’s population and they often find themselves at the center of divisive policies and rhetoric.

On this edition of Talk of Iowa, Charity Nebbe speaks with David Peterson and Mark Ramirez, authors of "Ignored Racism: White Animus Toward Latinos." They explore how an anti-Latino bias drives politics, policy and opportunity.

Guests:

Dave Peterson, Lucken Professor of Political Science at Iowa State University

Mark Ramirez, associate professor in the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University
