In lieu of hitting the bars or hanging out with friends, already popular dating apps and websites have become even more of a go-to for Iowans hoping to date safely during the pandemic.

Dating can be a daunting task in the best of times.
Add in a highly contagious virus and all of the social, emotional and health concerns that go along with it, and things get even harder.

On this episode of Talk of Iowa, Iowans share their stories of searching for, (and maybe even finding,) love during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kayla Fitzke, relationship and well-being researcher and assistant professor of couple and family therapy at the University of Iowa joins Charity Nebbe to discuss how best to navigate conversations around health, consent and commitment while dating in the new normal.

Guests:
Kayla Fitzke, assistant professor of couple and family therapy, University of Iowa College of Education
Mollie Giller, Des Moines resident working in development
Jordon Deutmeyer, graphic designer currently living in Dyersville, New York Times “Tiny Love Stories” contributor
Ben Maas, professor at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake
Kayla Miller, professor at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota
