It's always good to think ahead when it comes to spring flowers.

Right now we’re anticipating the rich yellows, oranges and reds of fall, but it’s also time to start thinking about the vibrant colors of spring. On this edition of Talk of Iowa, Charity Nebbe and the "hort gang" talk about planning for and planting spring blooming bulbs.

Listeners call, email and tweet questions about the plants, shrubs and trees in their lives for the "hort gang" to answer.

Guests:

Richard Jauron, Iowa State University Extension horticulture specialist

Aaron Steil, assistant director of Reiman Gardens in Ames

Mark Vitosh, Iowa DNR forester
