In this Talk of Iowa segment, host Charity Nebbe talks with goat breeders around the state to find out why the coldest month of the year is also a popular kidding season for goat farmers.

Nebbe talks with Kathy Werner, who raises Boer goats near Chelsea, Iowa Public Radio’s very own Pat Blank who raises Nigerian dwarf goats in Shell Rock, and Tim Schmidt in Hawarden. He raises dairy goats, though he plans his goats to give birth in the spring, when things warm up.
