When a raindrop falls into the headwaters of the Mississippi River, it spends the next 90 days making its way to the Gulf of Mexico.

When travel writer and photographer Gayle Harper learned about the 90 day trip, she decided that she would travel down the river at the same speed. In this edition of Talk of Iowa, Charity Nebbe talks with Harper about her journey and her new book, Roadtrip with a Raindrop: 90 Days along the Mississippi River.
Charity also talks about habitat, environmental concerns, and recreation along the river with Scott Gritters and Brian Button of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Gritters is a fisheries biologist and Button is the editor-in-chief for Iowa Outdoors Magazine.
