Bills Still Alive At The Iowa Statehouse

The 2021 legislative session is scheduled to adjourn at the end of the month. With only a few weeks left, many key pieces of legislation, like the state budget, have yet to be finalized.

Last Friday was the second funnel deadline in the Iowa legislature. On this edition of River to River, notable bills that are dead, and those still in the mix for final legislative approval.

Bills marked "alive" have met the requirements of the funnel deadline, and those marked "dead" have not. However, there are still ways the Legislature can resurrect "dead" proposals.

Bills both alive and dead this session include those involving child care, birth control, mental health, school choice, broadband investment, taxes, law enforcement, traffic cameras, tenure, the bottle bill and more.
