New guidance from the governorregarding the start of the school year have left some families and educators concerned about the safety of their students and colleagues.

On this episode of River to River, host Ben Kieffer talks with Iowa Public Radio state government reporter Katarina Sostaric for a look at the latest news regarding return-to-learn. During this program, we also take a look at the latest higher education news, and hear a conversation with Dr. Brian Privett, president of the Iowa Medical Society. The group was joined by thirteen other professional medical associations and groups in penning a letter to the governor requesting a statewide mask mandate earlier this week. As of the time of airing, the Iowa Medical Society had not received any direct response from Gov. Kim Reynold’s office.
