Historian Alex Kershaw Remembers The Events of D-Day, “America’s Finest Hour”

British Forces during the invasion of Normandy - June 6, 1944

D-Day was arguably the most important day of the 20th century.

In this edition of River to River, we remember the Allied invasion of Western Europe on June 6th, 1944. Host Ben Kieffer talks with New York Times bestselling author Alex Kershaw, whose latest book is titled, “The First Wave: The D-Day Warriors Who Led the Way to Victory in World War II.” It follows some of the men who carried out D-Day’s most perilous missions.

Later in the program, we listen back to some of a conversation from 2015 with the late George Dane, an Iowan who was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.
