The Ever Changing Role of Digital Media in Our Political System

Technology Is playing an increasingly active role in our political climate. Social media and other technological communications systems make it easier for people to engage with candidates, increase opportunities for offline political mobilization, and provide access to an unprecedented amount of news and information.

But with these productive opportunities come  threats of hacking, fake news, and other technological scandals that have a far reaching impact on the way social media is viewed, and consumed, by voters in politicians.

During this River to River conversation, host Ben Kieffer talks with David Karpf, Associate Professor of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University to explore technological trends impacting midterm elections, and the complex relationships between voters, candidates, and our digital world.
