Treasures Of St. Luke's

This week, the Iowa Arts Showcase heads back to the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Dubuque for their upcoming Aldersgate Heritage service on Sunday, May 26th at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, May 26th, 2019 at 10 a.m., St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Dubuque will host a special service in honor of Aldersgate Day.

RRS Stewart, St. Luke’s Church Historian and Tour Guide Coordinator, shared background on St. Luke’s many treasures, including the beautiful Italian frieze copy and Tiffany lamps, the intricate baptismal font, and the unique bell tower. (Check some of them out in the slideshow above.)

Aldersgate Day is celebrated by Methodists worldwide every May. The day is a commemoration joint founder, John Wesley’s religious epiphany which led to the Methodist movement. The day is named after Aldersgate Street, the location of Wesley’s epiphany.
