The forces of writing and music come together as Chamber Music Quad Cities pairs up with novelist Nathan Hill.
Nathan Hill is an Iowa native whose writing skills came to national attention with The Nix, his “critically acclaimed novel spanning three generations of American life.” The novel is being translated into thirty languages and was named #1 book of the year by Audible and Entertainment Weekly.
The unique performance will feature Mr. Hill reading key passages from his novel, “introducing principal characters and leading plot lines.” Chamber Music Quad Cities musicians will perform music drawn from the novel or chosen specifically to illustrate the passages being read by Mr. Hill.
Pianist Thomas Sauer, violinist Naha Greenholtz and baritone Thomas West will perform. Thomas Sauer is “highly sought after as a soloist and chamber musician” and founded the Mannes Beethoven Institute, a highly regarded summer program which ran for fifteen seasons. Naha Greenholtz serves as Concertmaster for both the Madison and Quad City Symphony Orchestras. Along with performing worldwide, Ms. Greenholtz is artist faculty at Renova Music Festival and Artistic Director of Davenport’s QCSO Signature Series. Mr. Sauer and Ms. Greenholtz will be joined by guest artist, baritone Thomas West. A graduate of The Juilliard School of Music, Mr. West is an avid performer in addition to founding Collaborative Arts Ensemble, “a collective of interdisciplinary performing artists dedicated to developing innovative and socially conscious concert programming.”
In addition to Nathan Hill’s readings, the concert showcases the music of Mendelssohn, Brahms, Grieg, John Cage, and Pete Seeger, along Ms. Greenholtz performing Bruch’s lush 1st Violin Concerto throughout the program.

The performance will be in the Parish Hall at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Davenport on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m.
