Words of Wisdom, 2013 Commencement Speakers

Many college students in Iowa have been and will be walking across stages to pick up their diplomas this month. Talk of Iowa speaks with two remarkable women who have been asked to send some of them off with words of wisdom.

Spoken word poet Sarah Kay has been performing since she was 14 and wowed audiences with her poem, B, written for a future daughter in her 2011 TED Talk. Kay will be speaking at theGrinnell College Commencement on Monday, May 20.  Also Sister Barbara Moore, who delivered the commencement address for St. Ambrose University, this weekend will join the program.  Sister Moore went to Selma, AL 1965 one week after the infamous "Bloody Sunday" to protest the Jim Crow-era South.
