Urban Dreams: Decades of Community Building in Central Iowa

Wayne Ford and Izaah Knox

Urban Dreams was founded in 1985. Since then it has been making connections, overcoming barriers and changing lives for members of Iowa’s underserved and underrepresented populations by helping people with substance abuse, mental health challenges, criminal records, and improving community relationships with the police.

In this edition of Talk of Iowa, Charity Nebbe talks with the man who started it all, Wayne Ford, the founder of Urban Dreams and a retired state representative. He served in the legislature from 1996-2010. The organization’s current executive director, Izaah Knox, also joins the conversation.
