New Survey Data Shows 69 Percent Of 12-Year-Olds Own A Smartphone

Common Sense Media conducted a new survey on media usage amongst tweens and teens. Their last survey was conducted in 2015.

Common Sense Media is a non-profit organization that educates and advocates for families regarding questions around technology and media. A new survey shows dramatic trends among young people, including increases in smartphone usage. 

On this segment of River to River, host Ben Kieffer talks about the results of this survey with Doug Gentile, professor of psychology at the Iowa State University, and Sarah Coyne, professor of human development at Brigham Young University.
