Fourth Districe Congressional Candidate Jim Mowrer

Democratic congressional candidate Jim Mowrer says he will not apologize for or remove television ads his campaign is running against Republican Congressman Steve King.

Earlier this week on Iowa Public Radio’s River to River,Kingcalled for an apology and a statement correcting the claims made in the advertisement before he would confirm his participation in a debate scheduled for later this month.

I stand by my ads, they've been fact checked. They're true, and the fact is, Congressman King is ashamed of his record... He doesn't want to defend his record.

Mowrer, an Iraq war veteran from Boone, says the ads accusing King of voting to raise his own pay in 2009 are accurate. Mowrer also says voters in the Fourth District deserve to hear from their candidates for Congress. The Iowa Public Television sponsored debate is scheduled for October 23rd in Storm Lake.

The campaign ad in question began airing early last week.
