More Than Three Dozen Apply For UI President Vacancy

The committee evaluating candidates for the University of Iowa’s next President is moving into the process final stages.

In a telephone conference this afternoon, the Search Committee heard from a representative of the Parker Executive Search, President Laurie Wilder.  She told the committee forty-four individuals had submitted material for consideration.

"..and we have six additional potential candidates who are still in the process of making that final decision," she said.   "Some of those candidates have indicated to us again confidentiality and the importance of that, and they’re still not ready to submit that to this full Search Committee.”

Parker search firm consultants will meet with the Search Committee next Tuesday in Iowa City. They'll whittle down the candidate field, and look to interview those candidates a week later at a Chicago airport. But, potential candidates are still submitting resumes, and the Parker firm’s Laurie Wilder told twice told the committee,”It’s not over…until it’s over.”  Finalist interviews and possible selection of the UI’s new President are scheduled for September 4th.
