Curbside delivery of materials like paint and lumber is allowing some Iowa contractors to continue working on construction projects despite COVID-19.

Executive Officer of the Home Builders Association of Iowa, Jay Iverson, said most are doing their best to comply with social distancing.

Subcontractors and those working on a project are asked to leave the premises while deliveries are being made," he said.

“I really am impressed with the way people have stepped up," Iverson added.  "They’re willing to make sacrifices, make changes to keep our business and our industry moving forward."

He said contractors are being creative as they do their best to comply with social distancing.

“I'm hearing from painters who have the local Sherwin Williams bring their paint out to their truck.   There’s a lot of that going on with the lumber yards too. Lumber yards are delivering lumber,” he said.

The Home Builders Association of Iowa represents 2,000 member companies with more than 54 thousand employees.
