Iowa Arts Showcase September 1, 2012

Paula Forest, Artistic Director of the Ames Town and Gown Chamber Music Association, tells us what to expect during the 2012-2013 concert season, which features performances from world-class performers including pianist Ann Schein, violinist Rachel Barton Pine and concertmaster of the Des Moines Symphony, Jonathan Sturm.  Heather Johnson, Executive Director of the Octagon Center for the Arts, gives us a preview of the forty-second Octagon Art Festival, taking place on September 23, 2012.  Hear more about the 2012-2013 Great Artists, Great Audiences series at Hancher from Executive Director Charles Swanson. Robert Massey, Executive Director of Orchestra Iowa, returns this month to highlight the Orchestra’s 2012-2013 season, kicking off with an all-American program on the historic lawn at Brucemore. Finally, Jason Weinberger, Artistic Director and CEO of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, stops by to tell us more about the WCFSO’s exciting new season, including performances with composer and vocalist Gabriel Kahane on September 19th at Iowa Public Radio’s Studio One, and again on September 22nd at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony.
