How To Stay Safe While Visiting Iowa's Parks

Michael Leland/IPR
Gray's Lake City Park in Des Moines has closed a major parking lot to help manage park congestion.

Iowans are flocking to city, state and county parks in record numbers as the weather warms and as people look for a change of pace from in-home social isolation.

On this segment of River to River, host Ben Kieffer is joined by representatives from state and city park services across the state to get an idea of what’s being done to make park dwelling as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guests include:

  • Todd Coffelt – Parks, Forests and Preserves Bureau Chief, Iowa Department of Natural Resources
  • Nick Rocca – State Park Ranger, Lake McBride State Park
  • John Byrnes – Recreation Supervisor, Sioux City Parks and Recreation
