Is This The End Of Foxygen? + Tracks Top 30 Playlist

facebook.com/foxygentheband

Upon hearing the latest Foxygen record, "Seeing Other People," my first impression was that this was a full-length farewell from the duo.  From the record's title on down to the often vitriolic lyrics of the songs, it seemed like maybe two guys who started their band in high school fourteen years ago had finally had enough.

Fans care about this because Sam France and Jonathan Rado are so good at what they do.  We loved Foxygen's 2013 breakthrough album, "We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic," and its fun melding of indie and classic rock.  We vicariously enjoyed France and Rado's lifestyle, and their tales of rock and roll excess.  We even allowed Foxygen their ridiculous over-long record of self-indulgence, "...And Star Power."

Sam France has written an open letter addressing the possible end of Foxygen.  According to him, "Seeing Other People" is a farewell to endless partying, unsavory music business characters and (for now) touring.  But not a farewell to Foxygen.  France says Foxygen is not breaking up, because he and Rado were never a band in the first place!  They are two guys who make records; here's the new one.
